Where is 3 and 4? Sign In

Hello all I am a newbie,

Here is what is going on, I have a 1987 Mercedes 300SDL with a 122.321 trans in it and i have first and second gear working perfectly. It does not want to shift into third until I let off the accelerator and it seems like it slips into neutral because the engine just winds up if i try to accelerate after the shift. I really want to nail this problem rather than just assume the trans needs an overhaul. I have never worked a trans issue before as i do most of the jobs on my own cars.

Eagerly waiting for suggestions

Thanks all

Eddie e.

Is this falling OUT of a gear you are already in without touching it. I'm not a trans specialist but have done a bunch of things on them in general and never one on one of these. I bet the shifter goes right into the trans without external linkage on this - right? This is a standard?
