ok back to working on the bus: reverse works kinda.. it seems to me that the reverse clutch pack must be leaking by and loosing pressure. when you put it in reverse it will go in to gear but then if you just sit their without touching the gas you will feel it come out of gear then a few seconds later back into gear. if you have your foot on the gas it seems to stay in but when you let off it usually pops out again than back in I don't think this should effect any of my forward gears and it sounds like a leak to me what do you all think. and if I were to replace it what tranny should i get

I forgot already - what tranny and year is this? That problem could be a weak front pump which can be replaced. If a 700R will fit in and GM 350 they have been pretty good trannies,

Hmmm? Seems like just the 400 was listed for this?? I think they can swap without any trouble. Are you thinking of fixing this one, or a whole used different one? Any history on the one you have?

Re: gmc 350 Sign In

hey Tom, I gotta go look at the pan on this thing and see, maybe it is a 400, i was told it was a 350 and well maybe it's not but anyhoo, I was hoping to get another 1000 miles outta this one and in the mean time get a 400 from the junkyard and rebuild it, i kinda remember watching my brother do a few of em when i was younger, History, all i know is what i was told, I bought this bus from the county surplus auction and they say they bought it new in 1980 and it was well maintained(I don't believe it) they say it's been sitting for 3 years...I think they used it as a shop truck. anyway their was another post here and i accidentally hit the wrong button and erased all that i wrote so this is the reincarnation of that post, (the first one was better)
