2003 hyundia tiburon 4 cylinder 2.0 120,000 miles I had just purchased this car and it was towed to my house, it does start up and drive but had slight front end damage, while removing damaged parts I noticed its missing a part I have no clue what part this is that its missing any help on a specific name for the part or anything would be appreciated I tried uploading a picture with no success it was to large apparently, But if you are looking down into the engine compartment from the drivers side tire, with the air intake removed you will see the clutch slave cylinder and to the right if that I just have this lever which looks similar to the clutch slave cylinders lever but it isn't, it has a black gromet sleeve below the lever as well and it does move but is connected to nothing but you can tell it once was ,and I know its not the master clutch cylinder either that is in a farther away area, I'm doing my best to explain sorry for not having a picture

? Just surfed the entire web for a name and nothing found. Appears to me to be THE shift cable(s) probably two needed and was removed. Is this a "salvage car?" You said it runs and drives but something must not work with that missing. Looks like the whole thing was removed before you got it not just disconnected. Mostly can't give it an exact name but bet is on shifting cable(s) and you probably have to go to a Hyundai dealer and look at their screen to identify and probably get a new one there or find another exact wreck and do what happened to this one - part taken! If that was only to be removed to shift by hand (guess) for moving it or make towing easier it doesn't make sense as I would think it would need more than just taking it off and leave cable there? Perhaps another here can give it a name - I found nothing by name, T

It does have a salvage title, but since the radiator was ruined it leaked bad I didn't have a chance to go thru all the gears as of yet I've only went thru 1st and second driving it just a little bit, I didn't want the car to get near thered line risking replacing the head gasket and more, so I shut it off and had it towed to the houseive got all new parts for it on order waiting for them to arrive but ccan't seem to figure what this part is, I'm sure your right it has to have somthing to do with shifting, I'm not extremly knowledgable about cars I know some but not, a lot Id say, but could it somehow be an engadgement linkage perhaps for reverse , I haven't gone in reverse at all with itas of yet, when at the house with it taking off trashed parts I noticed it and while in neutral and ebrake on I pushed it to the left and then back again it seems it only has two positions the one in the picture and one position to its left? I'm confused lol, I think your right about contacting a dealership bout it

You can run it without coolant for ONE minute or less in place from cold safely. Just set brake and ride clutch thru the gears just enough for feeling resistance. In that world wide hunt some model did have a lever or cable for just reverse and the highest gear so if neither work or only one that would probably be it and the rest of the symptoms you noticed already. Dealer's parts screen should show how it should look and arrows to part #s. You don't have to buy there but they'd have it. Chance they don't let you look but it's in their interest to sell parts so think they would. Yike - hit to wreck radiator? Is radiator support in place still? Hood lines up with latch and gap to fender good? If not you'll need some help more than a new radiator. Something tell me where you got it was not sure to part it out as junk yard food or try for a salvage as that does seem like someone took what's missing and if they know they will sell it whole should let it be touched IMO, T

Yea the radiator support bracket was still in place but bent up I ripped that out front of hood is bent taking that off, and very ftont of both fenders are bent as well goin with aftermarket for fenders and hoot, no apparent frame damageit looks loke the ac condensor and radiator took the blunt of the hit from the accident it had no airbags were deployed, and it drove straight so didn't through off alignment either steering wheel is perfect too, but I'm no expert , I know some things my dad taught me but not everything, thanx everyone you've helped get me a lot farther then I had on my own in a good direction to start lol, and I will try going thru the gears here shortly after work thanx a lot

Radiator support bent! Not many aren't at least spot welded in for new or need EXACT straightening or hood/fenders wont fit right and aftermarket ones might not fit well anyway? Just because a car drives straight ahead means NOTHING about the frame not being bent or that alignment is good or even could be aligned. 10mm off in the wrong places you don't see but that a lot! You can fix anything but I think you are in for more than meets they eye with this one, body alone. Maybe get lucky and pull/push some things straight enough. Hope so for your sake, T

That is the name of it - A COUNTERWEIGHT. They cancel vibrations natural to moving things in this case an engine. One thing you can about count on is that auto makers don't spend a nickel on a stupid weight for laughs so there's a reason for it. Can't know but perhaps without it before ever made it could vibrate enough to shift out of gear of something and this solved it?? IDK as it might not be a problem without it and a rare thing but if someone took it, it must count for real, T
