lack of transmission power Sign In

had to replace my short block and had a friend who is supposed to know what he is doing help my truck is a 1993 dodge dakota 2WD 3.9L X series, we took out the motor and trans at the same time to make easier to put back together now the transmission does not work right it will not shift out of over drive and it lack power some times it will get up to 65mph other times it will only get up to 35mph what can i do to fix it Crazy

Dodge had a problem with the trans. fluid ports getting clogged up resulting in hard/no shifting. There is a TSB which basically says that they oversize the port and that cures the problem. I don't have the number off hand but I did see it a couple of years back.

I think you need to install new transmission because no other way to solve this problem. After making some changes sometime time you feel proper but after some time you will again face this problem. Once you get the problem in transmission changing gear smoothly. You will notice the slightly change when the unit perform undesirably.
