Hi everyone, bummer of a first post, but hey, life! So our 2006 A/T pt cruiser with under 20K miles one day just started this clicking noise, took it to a shop and they pointed out the noise is coming from the tranny, and they couldn't hypothesis what it might be without committing to the full monty. understandable, but i figure some expert out there/here might at least have an idea of what trouble our car is in before we get a shop to do their thing. Have a listen/watch on the video and Thanks for your help, much appreciated! http://youtu.be/2o4VroIr648

You didn't have a starter put in it recently, did you? It sounds like something is making contact with the dust cover at the flywheel. You can remove the cover to find out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

no, nothing but fluids has been done to it, remember, it's only 20K miles. does sound kinda like the starter, but it's originating seemingly way down there at the tranny

I never said it was the starter. I asked if anyone had the starter out which could have disturbed the covers. It could also have a broken flexplate (flywheel).
