trans trouble 93 turbo diesel truck

i have a 93 dodge turbo cumins truck that the speedometer would stop working sometimes and then stoped all together then noticed wont shift into overdrive wondering if it has a cabel or sensor that controls both and if you can tell me were its at on trany or transfer case thanks rich

More info needed. I think speedo is a cable for this - not sure,

hello again thanks for prompt response.been messing with wire harness coming out of firewall notice speedo works sometimes again and when working shifts into overdrive but when speedo not working wont shift in overdrive.could they be linked together some way?also if its a cabel problem are they both linked together and were is it located,been looking cant figure it out hope explains alittle better. thanks rich

This could have a sensor, cable or both depending on just what it is. Speedo probably would effect overdrive,

hey tom thanks agian . my truck is a 93 cumins turbo diesel 5.9ltr 4x4 250 is ther any way somthing i can undo so the trans will shift into overdrive without hurting anything,need quick fix work truck and tight on cash this time of year thanks again rich

I think that anything that prevents the speed from reading is going to prevent overdrive
from working. Price out the part or just see if something is loose there which might
be the trouble??
