hello i have a 1993 mazda 626 2.0 when i put the car in drive its pulling out in second gear and will not change up or down the mph gauge quit and so did the cruse control the hold light was flashing off and on before and gears changed fine but the mph gauge still did not work and if i change the gears from low to second then to drive it stays in second any help or ideas would be great.

Hobbs; Gonna take some diagnosing, but it sounds like a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) problem. The VSS can cause both the symptoms that you describe.

I recently just had it ran on computer at garage and gave us no signs of vss sensor only that a sensor was bad any other ideas other than just getting a used speed sensor at junkyard. Its kinda like a guessing game?

Pricey sucker! Just checked. Perhaps try taking yours out since there are no codes and see if just the nylon gear is the trouble??

Just a maybe and probably cheap even at a dealer,
