While putting the wrong fluid in those trannys can damage them, it doesn't happen that fast. It's more of a slow kill over time. I'm not sure exactly what tranny you have but the ones with the external mount solenoid packs have a lot of problems with those.. Get the codes pull and if there isn't any tranny codes then more than likely you are looking at internal problems....

We was told to drain it a few times to see if that helps but the darn fluid is like 5-6 a qt. But it seems that their might be some in the torque converter

There's not just some in the torque converter, most of the fluid is in the torque converter. Depending which trans you have, it could hold over 9 qts and you only get 4 out draining the pan. The best bet is to get a complete fluid exchange using a fluid exchange machine, sometimes called a flush machine but it doesn't really do any flushing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No, you won't. It will just keep mixing and diluting. Do a total flush all at once with the correct fluid.

Most all quality shops have one these days. Just call them and ask if they have a complete flush machine.

It wouldn't matter if there was. That will only drain the pan.

That was on the old school converters............. The newer ones don't have a drain plug.... If you've got the wrong fluid in there you need to do a complete fluid exchange as suggested....But with this one since you are having the shifting problems as well you may want to have a tranny shop look at it 1st before you spend $120 bucks on a flush....
