Clutch pedal noise

I don't think my question is highly specific but I'm driving a 2006 Hyundai elantra
The clutch pedal has been making a little noise when I press or let off of it. Its not incredibly vital or anything but it got me thinking, I've used petroleum products on plastic before and I was sorely disappointing as the grease ate away and cracked the plastics. The culprit is a little spring that springs up to keep the pedal in the correct position, its wrapped around a little plastic post and it makes a little creek every time the spring compresses or relaxes because the windings expand and contract... Is there a plastic safe grease I can slap around it to lubricate it? I know this is a really small issue but if I ever serve customers I'd like to know how to doll up even the smallest of issues for them and mine is kind of like a little trial car for finding little tricks and tips....

I think you have it a little backwards. Petroleum products will eat rubber, not plastic. It doesn't harm plastic at all.
It's not the expansion and contraction of the spring that makes the noise. It's the binding on the pivots that you are hearing. It could be where the spring attaches or it could be the rotating shaft the pedal hangs on.

Plastics: Just FYI are in pure form a petroleum product if or when lube needed Silicone lubes not petroleum again.
More on plastics: 100s of types that age, crack, get brittle, worn and do rot out.
Rubber? We (people throw the word around loosely) was once only made from sap of a "rubber tree" no joking. It's altered now to be tolerant, stronger, temperature tolerant super high or low.
Both were made and improved the Dupont and trademarked. Now cloned, faked, copied even in new stuff IMO is almost all inferior to the original real stuff.
