I am replacing the cabin air filter in my 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i with a new Fram CF10285 filter. The instructions say to install the filter "with the air flow indicator arrow pointing down", which makes sense because outside air is coming to the filter from the top. However, the only arrow on the side of the filter has the word "UP" right next to it. So, which is right - the instructions or the filter? By the way, one side of the new filter element is light and the other side is dark, in case that provides helpful information to someone in the know. Thanks in advance for your help, and Merry Christmas!

I just contacted Fram technical support, and the fellow I spoke with answered my question as soon as I gave him the filter part number - I did not even have to ask the question. It does not matter which way the filter is put in.

Yep, that was the place to call.

I guess we can close this now.
