"OIL ADDITIVE" anyone use IT?

I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS A PRODUCT CALLED BARDAHL B1 ON YOU TUBE
WHERE THEY RAN A LEGIT TEST VEHICLE FOR 20 MINITES THEN DRAINED OIL AND DROVE
IT OVER 1200KMS WITH NO OIL IN THE ENGINE! I DID SOME GOOGLEING TO FIND MORE
INFO ON THIS AND IT SEEMS LIKE A GREAT ADDITIVE TO USE BECAUSE IT CONTAINS NO HARMFAL
PTF COATINGS IT DOESENT BOND TO ENGINE PARTS
BUT LEAVES A THIN TACKY COATING
ON PARTS SORT OF LIKE SYNTHETIC OIL BUT BETTER SEEN IT AT THE
LOCAL CT AUTO SHOP FOR 5$ A BOTTLE GONNA TRY IT NEXT OIL CHANGE

Urban lore - save your money! Even if it lubes that well how does an oil pump pressure up hydraulic lifters if nothing to pump?

Yah i see your point... but then again arent we all a sucker sometimes for snake oils :)

A majority of these products are geared towards neglected engines with a ton of miles that are at the end of their lives. I view them the same as I view all the products that promise to seal head gaskets and radiators. If I could, they would cease production of them and I would personally throw them all in the trash where they belong. If you have a leak, something in a bottle isn't the answer. Parts are, and someone that knows how to put them in right. So if your motor is so worn out it needs these additives to still function, don't think its fixed. Its not. It will follow Murphy's Law and fail at the worst possible time. It will suck, and it will cost a lot of money. There is a lot of sticker shock when you go to a shop for an estimate. But when its -15 with a -30 windchill at 10pm and your kids are in the car, is that a time you would congratulate yourself for making sure you got your engine to run the very last mile it could possibly run despite what the repair shop said? Please remember than we make money by the hour no matter what we do. Fixing your engine makes us work more in the shift. Doesn't raise the pay one bit. We give recommendations based on experience and training. We see these things so much we can guess how long it can go sometimes. We want your cars to start every time and run every time. THATS what really keeps you happy in the end. So find a tech you can trust and please listen to what he says before you put your checkbook first. We don't get a raise when you go on a wrecker after all.

I have low compression in cylinder 2(96 psi). The nissan dealership told me to put some oil additive like restore or other products that do the same in it because it might fix my problem. So far it has. starts just fine everytime. Still can't believe a dealership would suggest that as a fix though. I'm sure this is just a bandaid fix and it will soon stop working.
