The newer transmissions are designed to be run in OD mode. You should not have to shift it out of OD under normal conditions.

I would agree with way2old if and only if. your not towing anything? then your fine
i mean im not a tranny guy that fixes them but i do know from tranny guys expertise that if you were
doing any kind of towing with trailer then in that case it would be highly recommended
to have out of overdrive for pulling up hills and not to burn that transmission up
from over heating.

A consult with the owners manual says plenty. You only need to lock out overdrive when towing. Thats why the option is there. Leave it in overdrive while towing and may as well strap the grill to your transmission because you will bbq it. Otherwise, save your gas and leave it in OD. Do your trans a favor and make sure it gets serviced at proper intervals. It pays you back by not blowing up.

Agreed. I work as a mechanic for Arrigo DCJ and we tell our customers that using the OD for highway driving is just fine. Dropping it out of OD will give you a little more torque and is a good setting for towing
