ev-america.com is a company in the northwest that will help you and (sell-you) the kit needed to convert most cars to electric. I think it would range about $6-$10k The problem is the battery tech / weight so you need a lot of batteries to get about 50 miles per charge. I was told that the F150 pickup is a good choice since a pickup is naturally designed to carry weight and can support the 2000 lbs of battery weight.

I've heard rumors that Exxon bought a battery tech that can produce twice the power and weights half as much, which I wouldn't doubt is somewhat true... of an oil company to do in general and to think that if 2000/ lbs of battery today would get you about 50 miles. This tech would get you a range of 200 miles for the same weight. And for less then $10 bucks... per charge.

Who knows, maybe NASA could develop a battery tech then license it out to help fund the Space program. The future will be interesting.
