i replaced my automatic transmission filter on this subaru and drained what i believed to be the tranny oil pan. when i went to refill the tranny thru the dipstick i was able to get three quarts in and on the fourth quart it started to overflow from the dipstick tube. so thinking that i needed to pull that same plug i removed earlier to drain some of the fluid out into a can i did so and nothing came out, the trans oil pan was bone dry and the dip stick tube was still over flowing. i dont understand were i went wrong? so thinking maybe for some odd reason my car had two engine oil pans i checked my dipstick and it was bone dry. so i added half a quart of oil to the engine and it came out of the same oil pan i had origionally thought was for the tranny but now think might be a secondary oil pan maybe for lubing the turbo. so if any can help guide me in the right direction on how to remedy this problem i would be very grateful.

Don't quote me but I think there's a drain plug for the trans and one for engine oil AND a screw on filter for each!

Good grief ---- don't leave either too full or empty at all costs!! or it will be ALL COSTS!! They are both oils but get them both right with new filters again. I think the engine oil filter hides up in back near firewall - again don't quote me but it was a Subaru something that caught my attention with that,
