Disappointed thief hot-wired the Prius; ticking sound under the hood and doors won't lock Sign In

My friend caught a guy trying to steal her car just now. She called the police and they prevented him driving away, so she still has her car, but the car won't lock the doors now, and something under the hood is making a faint ticking sound. My friend says the guy definitely cut some wires.

I'm looking around online to find if there's a way to override everything and make the car totally turn off, but I haven't found anything yet. I found a procedure on rebooting the car, and she tried that, but no joy. If anyone has thoughts on what the guy might have done and how my friend can undo it, we'd be most grateful.

I'm still trying to get the information from her about the year of the car and the mileage. I'll report back. Cheers

There's no way I know of to KNOW what was done in some feeble attempt to take off in this? Sure some crook saw some trick for it (OE cars are NOT easy to just take off in) to fool just enough stuff to use it it's NG to keep the thing IMO.
BUMMER now it will cost something for checking just what was done or harmed because of that then what to do to reverse what was done.
Even if uninsured you might get some direction from the insurance company for who locally is good at it? IDK it's unique to that one failed attempt can't know what was wrecked just that vehicles of all sorts are not JUST cut wires, jump things and take off so easily.

What many want is just parts off it and dump it they just aren't very good at it and NO I won't say how to do that just doesn't involve driving it at all!
