Fuel filter question Sign In

My mechanic tells me my 2019 Chrysler 300 touring 3.6 L V6, 20,000 mi. fuel filter is located on top of the fuel pump in the gas tank, & is not serviceable. Does that sound right? If so, doesn't have to go bad some time? TIA

Sounds correct. Chrysler vehicles (many) started doing that some model years earlier IDK why not a problem?

Thanks Tom, not having a problem, just wanting not to invite one. Unimpressed

20,000 miles would be VERY attentive on your part for any. Just do this as a habit I have for centuries is DON'T FILL UP WHEN THE PLACE IS GETTING FUEL! That's stirring up yuk in their tanks. You don't want that, trust me,

Tom

Yes, they are in the tank and self cleaning.

Thanks guys, I found a recommended service schedule at the dealer. It recommends fuel filter change at 60,000 mi. for my vehicle. IDK maybe they use it to drum up business. Aside from that, is there access to the gas tank, filter & fuel pump under the back seat? Not going to do anything, just curious.

I don't know what the dealer is showing you but I have the factory service schedule and there is no fuel filter replacement ever on the schedule. You can't even buy it separately. It is part of the fuel pump.
