Glass Replacement for canopy/shell Sign In

I read a post answered by a moderator.. and i was inspired to ask here.. his answer was very extensive and seemed very knowledgeable ..

2000 GMC Sierra 2500 with a Raider Viewliner shell .. carpeted with storage bins along either side of tire wells in bed.

Last Thurs. nite.. i was at my friends place and when i got in and drove away i looked in rear view and thought first it was condensation, then the ugly truth my eyes were trying to hide from me was realized.. someone had busted the rear window (on shell)

My insurance policy doesnt cover after market.. never crossed my mind when i drew it up. so this is coming out of my pocket which is occupied by dust and moths..
From what i have learned so far.. is that I would need to buy the entire frame with glass in it. not happening
Has anyone ever had the glass replaced in a canopy? I have phoned several glass companies.. and they say they dont.

i am looking desperately for a break here Lord... u have thrown a considerable amount at me to handle lately...
single mom, i'd say about a 7 as far as handy. but vehicles not so much.
thank u.

Just curious, but what were you qouted to replace the glass and frame? I'm assuming you contacted the manufacture of your shell.

Question - Aftermarket "shell" meaning like a cap with glass that lifts out back?

Not sure but regular glass places (non automotive necessarily) probably can make new legal glass. No doubt requires being "tempered" such that it doesn't break "shard to sharp" but rather can break to small bits. Also heat tolerant vs plain glass.

Have done this for other assorted things just waited for glass to be tempered which was/had to be done AFTER it was cut and required for that. Might not for this so ask. Not my trade but wasn't a real hassle or too expensive however I did put the glass back in myself,
