Truck frame welding Sign In

Need assistance in 1989 chevy blazer plow truck. I bent the frame plowing and it now has a 3-4 " crack in it now. Would like to weld it putting 1/4" steel on both sides. Not sure if this the right thing to do. I have a Miller Buzz box. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am afraid of more damage. The crack is right under the engine so im concerned about engine weight and plow snow stress.

That should be fine. I know a couple of guys that turn old 1940s POS cars into hotrods, basically doing the same thing, been doing it for over 20 years and have never had a failure.

If you can fabricate something that fits inside the rail and is attached to all 3 sides of the rail, you should be fine.
