buying a new auto car	Sign In

I am thinking of buying a new car. I would like to buy an automatic. I would want to keep it ten years. I have heard reports of CVTs regularly having to have there gearboxes renewed at great expence.Just wondering which auto is the most reliable and least costly to repair if it does break down. Am I better with a semi automatic or should I stick with the gearbox. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards John.

HT - Agree, agree, agree.............. but: Brand new and looking 10 years out is still fortune telling. IDK, look back 10 years at what turned out OK is one way but not always spot on. If it moves it's always AYOR for that long,

You can get 10 years out of any vehicle if you take care of it, fix issues before they get worse, and don't beat the heck out of it. I agree Toyota and Lexus are probably the best when it comes to getting parts and having great reliability.
