no engine hoist Sign In

Hello, I have a 95 s10 4.3 L. I am in the middle of a rebuild because of spun main and rod bearings. But what I need to know is any tricks to install the engine back with out a hoist. I was able to get it out using a big blackwalnut tree and pulling it out with a nylon rope pulled with my accord . but I fear putting it in and lineing up the spline will be too difficult to use the same method. Thank you for your help!

I'd much rather see you rent the right stuff. Can the ole tree limb tricks work - yes. Have seen the limb come down not the engine go up too. Equipment is rated for what load it can take. Tree limbs are not. Your setting and situation, think hard first,

Re: no engine hoist Sign In

After they extract what is left of you from your collapsed engine bay, maybe they can use the tree to make your coffin. This idea is one that shows up in the Darwin Awards and local obits. You can rent an engine hoist at rental places or maybe even throw up a Craigslist ad looking to rent one for 20 bucks from a guy. Plenty of people selling used ones on CL too.

Please don't do this. I'd hate to see you get hurt like this and while it may be a sturdy looking branch there will be no warning when it fails.

You should make a video of this. I really want to see this homemade contraption. Could this been another selectee for this years Darwin award?
