using a timing light, i notice that plugs 2,3,4, gets fire but clinder one doesnt, my question is is it possible for a coil tower to discharge only on one side or does this indicate that the icm is not firing the one cylinder. 1 and 4 both fire off the same coil tower 4 fire but one doesn't ........checked resistance in one plug wire good connectivity........icm is two hundred do not want to replace if not neccesssary////reply (removed your email address as it isn't needed)

One of these coils............
Yes - can't say that it's been common to me but there could be some hidden arcing in there taking out the spark and leave one working,

No, it's not possible because it only fires one spark anyway. It leaves from one tower and returns to the other.

I'm all ears - how is that and if it couldn't return would it still work? I've heard of those firing twice once not used as engine would not be on time for spark to do anything. I test those with a mist of water and find most flaws the eye can't see if separate vs all together packs of all of them mostly seen on V6 engines and usually quite dependable??

That's the way all coil packs work except COP. The spark goes out through one wire, travels through the block and returns through a different spark plug back to the coil. One cylinder is up on compression and the other is up on exhaust. It's called a "waste spark".

thank you for reinforcing what i was determining after walking through the wiring schematics, that leaves me to believe that the one plug wont fire unless detected by the crank sensor, due to the weather, will not be able to check crank sensor for a signal.............if crank sensor is within specs, how asfe is it to test pcm?
