84 Chevy Truck Sign In

Have a 84 Chevy pickup 305 Auto that decided to not start. Truck in dead. No horn no lights. Checked battery it was getting close to bad so I replaced it. Still same problem. I checked the negative battery cable by disconnecting it from the ground and using a load meter it tested good. I have not checked the positive battery cable yet. If I checked that and still have no power, what next? Thanks for the help[email]

Re: 84 Chevy Truck Sign In

Clean all connections and rust proof them both at battery, engine ends of battery cables. The hot one goes to the starter and be careful not to break it off - NOTE : Do this with battery neg disconnected. Also - engine or direct from battery must connect body of veh to ground and that needs to work properly too.

For rust/corrosion protection I like silicone grease. The starter motor/at solonoid should be dealt with carefully as you got some years on this. Penetratings oils etc may help, if it breaks - you can replace just the piggy backed solonoid where the wires all go. Good luck,
