Many way to find vacuum leaks, smoke is one and true the fan(s) of assorted vehicles kill it. With this you should have a fan clutch and if cold (AYOR and careful) can hold it still. This isn't the same with all fan clutches at all at the risk of harm to you or damage.

Of my own I listen from cold they roar then go to just a bearing and it almost stops by itself till hot air thru radiator. I couldn't guess any other vehicles so any tricks of that sort at your own risk and plenty of it.

If in doubt most you can take fan and clutch right off with replacement bolts so it's all in place which is a lot of hassle if fan breeze is such a problem try another method would be my choice on this layout,

No, you don't smoke test with the engine running. You cap off the intake and blow it into a vacuum port and look for the smoke escaping.

Perfect sense. I have total luck with carb cleaner or real soapy bubbles so don't do it that way. Just chance haven't fought too hard to find them,
