I must have hit a rock on our dirt road because the transmission is leaking. The transmission shop says the case may be able to be welded, or it may require a new one. My husband noticed it leaked maybe a cup of fluid in 24 hours. Drives just fine as usual. My question is why does the transmission need to be overhauled, (at $25K) in addition to replacing or welding the case? 2005 Suzuki Aerio. The dealer no longer sells or services Suzuki, nor does anyone else within an hour's drive. Thanks for any advice.

itmaybesaid; $25K? You've got to be kidding! $2500.00 may be more like it if the trans. housing is broken. As new of a vehicle as it is, I'd think that you could find a low mileage used transmission for a fraction of that. So what if you have to drive two hours...or more...to save $1000.00. If someone really did quote you $25K, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run. Very fast. Loren SW Washington

I guess that was the price to just go to the lot and pick out a new vehicle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
