I am going to be moving from Nebraska to Las Vegas and want to take the route that will be best. I just bought my pickup and it is in really good working condition. I would like to keep it running good so I can have it for as long as possible. The only issue I've encountered is that when it reaches 70mph the ABS light comes on. The shortest route, through Colorado and Utah, is only 15 hours. The other routes are like 19. Fifteen sounds better, but I want what is best for the truck performance and longevity.

Thank you.

I vote for the scenic route, whichever that is....

As far as the ABS light, there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for this concern.

Subject: ABS Light On at High Speeds (Above 70 mph or 113 km/h) (Install New PCM) #00-06-04-025A - (08/28/2000)

Models: 2000 Chevrolet and GMC S/T Pickup Models 2000 Isuzu Hombre with 2.2 L Engine (VINs 4, 5 -- RPOs LN2, L43) and 4L60-E Automatic Transmission (RPO M30)

This bulletin is being revised to add an additional engine and its related information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-06-04-025 (Section 06 -- Engine).
Condition
Some customers may comment that the ABS light comes on at high speeds (above 70 mph or 113 km/h). Upon investigation, a DTC C0237, Rear Wheel Speed Signal Erratic, will be found. Cause
Condition may due to normal fluctuations in the vehicle speed sensor signal that pass from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). Correction
The PCM has been revised to add signal filtering to the speed sensor signal that is passed on to the EBCM. Install a new PCM.
Important The VSS Signal Filter is the only change to the PCM. This PCM should not be used in an attempt to repair any condition other than the subject of this bulletin. Parts Information

Part Number
Description
12201983
PCM Module - LN2
12202203
PCM Module - L43

Definately follow up on that TSB but if you can't trust that truck for 19 hours you can't trust it for 15, no matter what the terrain. I would take the mountain route. There isn't as much of a snow hazard this time of year anyhow and people made that pass for 80 years without ABS on worse roads and worse tire technology. Just comes down to driver skill. I love the trip though the mountains. Can't beat the scenery.
