Hi, We wanted to know if anyone has noticed page load times getting better or worse? We playied with some server settings yesterday to help page load times and we wanted to see if this is helping anyone with slower connections... I know the cable/dsl users get most pages fast anyway but, mainly this change was to help the pages loadup faster for the dialup people. If you noticed a difference could you post a reply and let us know..... also post your state or region to help out. Thanks. PS.... We will move this post to the open board in a few days.

I'm on high speed cable so waiting three seconds now ticks me off! I only started anything computer about three years ago and had dial up and waited 15 minutes for some stuff to get thru. Have unreal IT help and more anti thises and thats than most web sites! I would go DSL to save $ but it's not available here. I could never be at these sites with just dial up. As you know many don't have choices so whatever speeds it up is great for our friends out there. Be well, T

I agree tom. This will compress the files at the server... in this example this actually page is about 32k which for cable or dsl isn't much at all.... in firefox the browser, its showing up as only 7k.... so if someone with a dialup connection came here it would take about 2-4 seconds to view this page with the modification, (if they had a browser version from the last 2 years....) without this feature it would take about 8-10 seconds.... and we all know waiting just a few seconds on the internet is not good. So I"m hoping people with slower connections, can find these pages and get help, as well as give help on the boards, we will see with time.

I’ve waited a few days to post just to make sure it wasn’t just me being impatient. At home I’m on high speed so there’s not an issue but here at the shop I’m still on dial-up and haven’t seen any difference at all on how fast/slow the pages have loaded. I know, come-on Dan get with the times, But I refuse to pay the extra costs involved with having high speed on a business line; I’m already paying through the nose for two phone lines I have now here at the shop. The second line is for interact bank machine, which I’m on line with now. They still want more than double for the high speed here then what I’m paying at my home. OK that’s the end of my rant. LOL Again I haven’t noticed any difference in the load time for my dial-up. Dan. Canadian "EH"

Thanks I thought it made a difference but wasn't sure. Dan what version of internet explorer are you using? To find out go into the top menu on the browser window next to tools >>help>>about IE.. or are you running something different?? firefox maybe. I find it funny that ie shows this page at about 40k where firefox shows it at about 9k. I also feel for you with the extra cost of business dsl/cable...

Version 6.0.2900.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-15191C Whatever all that means? Give me automotive and DC current and I can likely figure it out. PC’s and AC voltage and I’m lost until someone shows me. Here’s a good example; All I know about AC voltage is that they run the hydro wires up on poles so that the electricity can run down into my lights.LOL Dan. Canadian "EH"

I'm paying about $50 bucks for just internet which I could get dial up for about $10 bucks but I'm spoiled now. Site would grow faster if the dial up folks could navigate faster so if you can do it - go for it. T
