I haven't used any of the electric impacts. Can you get parts for them such as an anvil or socket retaining rings?

My boss has the worst set of tools. They are name brands, but completely worn out. He is very hard on tools with busting sockets, breaking the ends off screwdrivers, stripping out ratchets, etc. He doesn't oil his guns, so every once in a while I'll hear him with a impact going full blast cause the spring rusted out in the trigger as the socket flies across the shop because the anvil is broke and the retaining ring is missing. I am finding him more and more getting stuff out of my box and that just ain't right...LOL.

Sorry didnt see the rest of this post lol.
Yes you can get replacement parts for them. Not carried on truck but ordered.

My old boss was that way too. He had the worse set too (except for the diagnostics). I showed up the first day and unloaded two of my boxes and he watched and drooled LoL and borrowed from day two. But I didnt have any issues with that. I put a lot of money into my tools awhile back when all my other bills were taken care of and only had the usual groceries and electric bills and the wife was working so I took advantage of the "good times" and sunk a lot into them. But as we all know "good times' come and go, now its buy a tool or equipment when needed (at least for high end stuff). But anyway, I used to mess with him alot about it and even put a tool checkout list for him to sign hahaha... but to stand up for him, he started buying/upgrading and turned his shop around before I left.

The Mac man actually came up to me yesterday and told me that if I would just give him 20 dollars a week by using the MAC credit card he would be able to stay afloat. I told him sorry, but that isn't my problem.

Man, I can't believe a tool guy would say that. Sounds like he's not going to be around too long.....

That surprises me about S/O but they're like anyone, good dealers & bad ones...... I've heard about some just working out the trunk of their cars & refusing to warranty anything...

There is a Cornwell truck in the area somewhere around here. I use to buy a lot of stuff from them when I was in the NW. They had decent tools & the price was real cheap...

I've always had a problem with people getting into my box without me knowing about......Your boss doing is a little tougher....lol.....I'm not sure the size for your shop, I guess you just gotta keep a close eye on everything to make sure stuff doesn't accidently get left here or there....

He's a good guy. He can use my tools when ever. It is just me and him working out of 4 bays. I find myself scrounging through his box sometimes also.

2 guy isn't so bad.

The worst place I was in for that was an 8 bay shop with 10 techs and it was the "norm" for techs to go into other techs boxes....Any place I've ever worked, I always ask the guy 1st if I can borrow it. Usually it's a "Yea go for it, its in the ______ drawer of my _______ box." Once is a blue moon it's a sure for .3 or sorry I had to pay for mine so you need to go buy yourself one........That's never a good road to go down....

To me it was irrelevant if the tool was stolen or lost cuz at the end of the day I was still missing a tool....(obviously stealing it would've been way worse)
I wound up locking my big box all the time (that was PITA).
The one little trick that killed me, was a tech would break a tool, put it back & not say sh*t. So 2 weeks later when I go to use that tool (that I could've warrantied....lmao) there it sits....broken & unusable....Crazy Sly Mad

I used to hate the ones that would return a broken tool and not say anything. When I was instructing I used to let the students borrow my tools and every once in awhile someone would turn it back into my box broken.
Everywhere I worked we always asked before borrowing, it not only common courtsey but covers your butt if something comes up missing. We all used to lock our boxes at night and leave them open during working hours. I would never charge to let someone borrow I might mess with you but not charge, might ask for a smoke thoughWink. My policy has always been, if I have to borrow the same tool more then three times I would get on the truck and buy it.

Just googled Cornwell and it looks like they are still in business. At least their website is still up and taking orders.

Update, talked with the dealer today (first time in a long time), he says he'd heard the rumour that the company was going "belly up" soon at a recent conference. He said he figured he has about a year left. So............................ remember just a rumour though
