I own a 2008 Ford Escape and twicw recently the engine just cut off, all the panel lights came on and the radio stopped - just as when you initially turn the ignition key. It only laste for about 1-2 seconds and then restarted. It acts like the ignition is momentarily turned off. Has only happend twice. Both in the last week so very difficult to troubleshoot. Help !!!

When does it stall out? While cruising, at a stop, while decelerating, under acceleration, or all the above? Any aftermarket equipment? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

It has only happened twice. Once while travelling around 60mph and hitting a small bump (roadwork) and once while doing a quick U-turn. However, I believe I found the problem. While checking for loose connections under the hood (I suspected a possible loose battery connection) I found that the ground strap running from the -ve terminal to the frame was barely connected at the terminal end. When I touched it it came away. I'm actually surprised the car ran at all as it was barely making a connection. I believe this was a result of some work I had done on my car some time ago, not a Ford/factory problem. Thanks for your follow-up though.
