Hi. As soon as I put my 1987 cadilac DeVille in gear it blows the fuse for my turn signals. Checked ALL other fuses and they're all good. Everything continues working but the blinkers. Anyone have any ideas?

Guess: By putting it in gear you no doubt hit the brakes which is the same filiment of the back bulbs. Bet one is screwed up at the socket or perhaps a wrong bulb is in there. Another trouble spot is trailer wiring if that's been added,

Re: fuse keeps blowing Sign In

Looking at the fuse panel wiring diagram; the turn signal fuse is also connected to a portion of the gear select switch (terminal “D” dark blue wire); which is the feed for the back-up lights.
When the shifter is moved from park and into gear; terminal D is connected to terminal E (light green/black wire) of the gear select switch, as the shifter is placed in reverse or as the shifter passes through reverse.
This green/black wire ends up at the back-up light bulbs.
An easy way to confirm whether the problem is in this part of the circuit, would be to disconnect the gear select switch, turn the ignition on, signals on and then shift the trans into gear. If the fuse holds, you’ll know that you’re heading in the right direction to find the problem.
The gear switch needs to be connected or the engine will not start/crank but if the fuse did hold during your test; you could clip the green/black wire feeding the lights. That will give you the time to do the search and rescue, looking for the short to ground and your signal will work in the meantime.
There is a chance that the short is right in the gear select switch? If the fuse would still blow after clipping the green/black wire, you could try cutting the dark blue and see if the fuse holds again?

The gear select switch is on the transmission, on or close to where the shifter cable attaches to the transmission. If you are going to try clipping the wires; make sure you do it in a place that is easy to repair later.
