I have a 2005 Kia Sorrento. I recently got an oil change and once they finished my car did not turn over. The gentleman there suggested it could be the fuel pump, he told me to get starter fluid and if I use it and it turns over then its the fuel pump. I did exactly that and it did turn over. I just installed a new fuel pump but it still didn't turn over and sounds like it's not getting any power any suggestions?

This smacks of a quickie oil change place. Know that TMK none have to have trained techs and your test just means it cranks but doesn't start and lack of fuel DELIVERED was the issue not always a fuel pump - ask that guy to pay for the wrong diagnosis flawed all over the place. There are tons of reasons for an all crank no start condition that are NOT a fuel pump problem. In that this instantly coincided with just an oil change first look should probably be what might have been unplugged or disturbed in just doing that which no doubt included checking air filter and more to sell you that you may or may not have needed. Handy places no question. Known for this stuff too though. Why did you just take this person's word for it so easily that wasn't the problem? Whatever: Read this for "An all crank, no start condition" at this site......... http://autoforums.carjunky.com/...LL_NOT_START_P75655/ If you personally can't go thru that process the car needs to go to a real tech/shop for diagnosis and the fix. If you have antitheft controls that could have been armed by mistake have you rules at least that out as well? T

I'm confused. You stated it didn't turn over. That to me means it wouldn't crank. If it doesn't want to crank, spraying starter fluid and replacing the fuel pump isn't going to solve that issue. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Quote from first post">>I did exactly that and it did turn over.<<" It's totally confusing to use term "turn over" to some means runs or not, in this case think OP means it cranked and ran. Some people don't know the difference. OP - the only time to use the term "turn over" with a car is if it's upside down as in on it's roof! DS - I'm with you - too confused and I guessed from that it did run on starting fluid for a second or so and went ahead and replaced fuel pump based on only that! Thread and info messed up and only OP can describe this better. Sure sounds like it was just driven in for an oil change and then this, not even how or who changed out a fuel pump or how it got there to do it? Lost, T
