i have a 1973 kaw 90 street 2 stroke ...been sitting for years. tried getting started but wont. got it stated with starting fluid but wont stay running.seems its a fuel problem (obviously) was told it has something to do with a "valve" that rotates and sits behind the carb (?)... dont have a clue about these old bikes

I'm not a motorcycle technician, but since it was sitting so long the carb could be gummed up and/or the fuel tank is rusted internally and the rust is clogging up the screen at the bottom. Be careful running it on starting fluid. 2 strokes as you know require 2 stroke oil mixed with the fuel. Without the oil and just starting fluid, the internal parts of the engine don't have any lubrication.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

To add to this... Many bikes have a fuel shutoff at the tank that is triggered by engine vacuum so make sure you don't have any leaking vacuum hoses.
