Hi. My ol' truck needs an air conditioner. It did not come from the factory with one installed. Is it possible to put one in?

They do make aftermarket kits kits to add on A/C. They are quite a job to install and you may have a hard time finding one for a vehicle that old.

Thanks, Hammer Time. You have any idea of a source for a kit?

There is a place here in West Palm Beach that installs them. They may also ship, I don't know.

It's Franks Gauranteed A/C 561-686-2627

Memory lane!

If space allows there is still (just checked) a unit like the picture,

Dealt with a couple like that either floor mounted or under dash. For an old truck if short cab this style would be cheaper big time. Call the place Hammer suggested. If you think half the ability of an OE or quality exact fit install would be enough these did work but not strong. The real McCoy if available will be quite involved even in a old truck. Don't forget this type will be totally obnoxious for a middle passenger!

Again, in my experience with this type it is marginal performance and if for a known hot climate probably not worth it at all,

This is not something that you can do yourself. Most of the hoses have to be custom made and crimped.
