1997 k1500, 5.7 vortec. 160k.

I'm fighting this one. No start cold soak [sitting ovrnite]. intermittent. if it starts in the morning it will start all day long whenever you shut it off. If you plug it in for 2 hours it will start . have reoladced ign. module checked fuel pressure @ 60psi. Have tried known good coil.

After trying to start with key still in on possition engine fires. Also tried CKP.

Did you read that fuel pressure during the failure with the engine not running?

Re: 5.7 no start cold soak Sign In

Had a 96 Vortec - six months checked fine hot or cold running or not but VERY hard starts (intermittent + not caught by me for a while) would run low 60s PSI. New CTS worked for a week fooling the diagnosis and did it again. The connector can be the issue also. Soldered in a new one. Caught the sucker KOEO at 53psi, primed and ran but sluggish but stayed at 54psi for a while running! Fuel pump solved that one against suggestion of it more likely being a regulator issue??

You hate to be wrong with this as parts and labor are enough and replacement pump dependability is iffy. Go OE highly suggested.

The one I dealt with ran ok once warm the rest of that day also and pressure checks were normal many times! No history of low fuel (bad on pumps) and all else seemed to check fine. These really want exacting fuel delivery!

Yes, fuel pump is where I was going but I wanted clarification on the fuel pressure.
