Brake warning light

2000 GMC Sierra, 2500,4x4 long box, extra cab. 6 liter engine with auto trans. The park brake warning light will not go off. I have checked the fluid level in the master cylinder, and it is right up. I suspect that the problem is with the park brake switch. It started some time back as I was driving one day. The light came on, and the truck started bonging at me. I reset the park brake and released it, and the problem went away. However the problem came back. The bonging is getting on my nerves. Has anybody had a problem with this switch, and how did you overcome it. Another question: Does anyone know where the bonger is and how to silence it? Thanks for any help. Gerry

The chev/gmc truck will ding when you start driving when it see's the
parking break engadged.. Pull the release handle while pulling up on the
pedal see if it stops. If it dosen't there might be a connector on the
pedal assembly try disconnecting it and see if the light goes out.
