Erratic Oil Pressure Gauge

So I went to Vegas this weekend and when I came back my oil pressure gauge starting jumping everywhere and my message center was reading " Oil Pressure Low" I pulled over thinking my truck was about to blow up. Oil level on dipstick was fine, no smoke, no engine knocking. I'm thinking oil pressure switch, friend told me instrument cluster, what do u guys think. 2006 Chevy Avalanche, 5.3L, 68,000 miles, Thanx

Change the switch first and see what happens. If you have a high end, bidirectional scan tool you can test the dash cluster but I doubt you have one of those. The switch is cheap.

The switch is a lot of fun to change too. Don't forget the special socket.

Its just the upper intake manifold. Seems like a lot but its really not that bad.

No, you don't have to remove anything to change the sender. It would be a lot easier with all that stuff removed but you can change it without removing anything. You do have to have a special socket for it though and you have to make like Gumby to reach it.
