I attempted to change my fuel filter and I had a problem. I depressurized my fuel system and then cleaned the lines up to the filter. But disconnecting the fuel lines were harder. I can t seem to do it. I have a quick disconnect tool and everything so how do i disconnect those lines?

Make, model, and year might help. But try spraying penetrating oil in the connections. Then install tool and sort of push the filter and line together than try pulling them apart. Some of them take a just so-so pull for them to release properly. I have worked for an hour on them before. Then walk off and come back and it almost falls out. Good luck.

Its an 03 Ford Ranger. I may be asking a stupid question on this but how do i properly use the quick disconnect tool? Also so i should just push the lines and the filter together and then they should come off? Thank you again

Get the tool in place and push first - when it seats in releasing the catch spring then pull. They can be fussy and if sticky must be freed up with a spray or something like way2old mentioned,

Hey Tom/all
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this have the set-up where you pull out the u shaped plastic retaining clip then pull the line off?...
And also should replace those clips..usually come with the new filter....

If that has the plastic horseshoe clip you just pry the old one out - get it far enough to grab with pliers or whatever works. It's then toast and new ones should come with the new filter or can be had separately. I'm sorry if it was this type and not what I'll call the spring lock type as I simply don't know what each model might have done for what year. Most Ford products did use that type that I recall. Jim's comment made me think that it was the clip style!

Good point Jim. There are 2 styles on the 03. Depends on when it was built. If it is a late build it has the plastic clips, if it is early, it has the spring lock.
