Hi, I have a 86 Ford F150 with the 302 V8. When driving the truck, it suddenly looses engine power for about 1-2 seconds and then regains power and all is fine again. Any idea's on what to look for? I just bought this truck and don't want to start throwing money at it trying to guess what's wrong with it. The truck has 146,000 miles on it and the plugs, wires and distributor cap look fairly new. Thank you.......

Is there any regularity or pattern when this happens? It's not unheard of for these 5.0 (302) to have troubles with the nylon (if original) timing gear with age and heat no matter how well they are taken care of. Not a lot of money but is a lot of work. Testing may be iffy but you can turn engine (by crank bolt) to TDC on pointer at crank, take dist cap off and look at rotor and see how many degrees the crank turns (go back and forth) before rotor responds as a clue, T
