I have a 2006 Ford F150 4.6 V8 Engine. What I am wanting to know I put new Spark Plugs in my truck because it was missing bad now it's not missing now but it's going through a lout of gas a lout more then it use to. Is there something that I have to do because I put those plugs in?

What brand plugs did you put in? I put Motorcraft spark plugs in it. Yes I looked, everything is hooked up.

If you can get your hands on a good scan tool you can look at the adaptives and get an idea how it is burning. I have a scan tool I have the Innova 3140 it has the live data mode on it. It also has 02 Sensor Test on it. Non-Continuous test. And System Test.

Ok I did the live Data on the truck and this is what it came up with. With it idling. Fuel Sys 1 CL ECT (F 188 Calc Load 44.3 STFT B1 % -0.7 to 3.1 LTFT B1 % 7.8 STFT B2 % -0.7 to 2.3 LTFT B2 % 7.0 Write me back and let me know what you think I should do.

It was running for over a hour we just got back from the store and I plugged in my scanner and ran the live data. I just had to turn it off to plug in my scanner and start it back up.

How many miles on this engine? You trims don't look too bad at idle. What are your trims when cruising at 60 mph? Pull out your MAF sensor and inspect the elements. If they are dirty, clean them with MAF sensor cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Don't use brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Inspect your air filter, if you hadn't done that, and see if it needs replacement. Don't try to clean a paper filter. If your truck was running that long, it appears that you have a problem with temperature. Your ECT read 188 and that is a little cool. It should be around 200What we don't know is if the engine is actually that temp or the sensor is out of calibration. The best way to find out is too check the data after the car has sat overnight and compare the ECT with the MAT (manifold air temp) and they should match. If they do, I would replace the thermostat. If your unit can record data, take it out for a spin and record as much as you can under different conditions.... That little bit you posted helps but you really can't tell much from that.... Engine load at 44% @ idle is a bit high but I agree it does look like it's in fuel control in that snapshot

This would also reinforce DS's theory of a dirty MAF That's actually where I would probably look 1st, Fords are good that. Usually you'll get lean codes but not always..... At sea level you want to see 159hz, you get down to 150 and that is when you can get some problems & codes... If I remember right every 3hz is a 1000' or at least somewhere around there.... I couldn't tell you the strategy on how the PCM calculates load on this, I'd have to bone up as well, it's not one of the main PIDs I look at but does seem a bit high for idle. Plus Desi's right the ECT looks too low as well, that also could be a problem, especially since it's just sitting there in closed loop. But we're just seeing a tiny bit of info without know how long it's been running, if it's been driven, ect........

I was referring to the PIDs, most scanners display both pressure & frequency reading. I just find that frequency is a little more accurate. Especially if you get on that is just slightly skewed, it's not as noticable as pressure a pressure reading.

It's in the air cleaner housing. Be sure you get the sensing wire real good and use the correct cleaner. Do use carb clean or throttle body cleaner. Use MAF cleaner

Yes I know I did not write that down, I know on the scanner it did say how long it was running and I should of wrote that down so you knew how long it had been running but I don't know the exact minutes it was running. I don't remember what it said for minutes. I am going to try the easy things first like change the air filter and clean the sensor. I will let everyone know if it's still going through fuel. And I will run onther live data check on it and record everything that's going on and post it for you to see what other things I can check on.

Hammer Time Is there any way I can email you I am still having problems with my Ford F150 going through Fuel I cleaned the MAF Censer and I also changed the Thermostat but it's still running at 186 to 188 F going down the road. I have all the live data that I did on my scanner I have 10 Frames but I can not post them on here because I can not put a Image file on here. Please write me back and let me know how I can get them to you to see what you think.

I edited them into your question. The one thing that jumps out at me is the Intake air temp of 32 degrees. That's not what I said at all. I said the Intake Air temp sensor is reading too low. It could be a faulty sensor, or a wiring or PCM problem.
