96 blazer vortch head removal

is there any way to remove the headson a 96 blazer v6, without fully removing the exhaust manifolds. possibly disconnecting system from muffler? unbolted manifolds from the heads, but need that extra inch or so to get the bottom row of bolts on thehead.

What's so hard about removing a couple of flange nuts to get the manifolds out of the way?

Accessability is key, I'm working in my driveway on jack stands. Trying to get the right combination of tools and the leverage.space is too tight and awkward to get a torch up in there to heat the studs.

Hence, the reason we have repair shops equipped with lifts.

Sounds like by the time you acquire everything needed for obstructions, near always stuck and rusted stuff with exhaust there, and chance of breaking whatever fasteners needing extracting and the tools for that this will cost you a lot more than sending this out to a shop that has all that is needed already,

Well if I could go put it on a lift don't you think I would've done that already? I was looking for an answer not a smart ass remark. Thank for the lack of help though, mission accomplished.

You know, I don't have the equipment at home for open heart surgery either so you know what I do? I leave it to the doctor to do because HE is equipped and trained to do the job.

Unlike a lot of other backyard mechanics, I feel that 28 years of experience, though not having to pay for it, qualifies me as able to do the job. For all those out there,there is no short cut, which I was looking for. Broke three studs, but the job was accomplished.. Heads are at the machine shop as we speak.No hard feelings, have a good night.

Good for you and good luck with the fix of broken studs. I apologize on my part for thinking you would end up spending a fortune on tools for obstruction some of which are shockingly expensive such that if for one time use may never be worth it to own.
