Are you sure? It's more likely the water pump but no matter you would have to verify the leak and replace gasket or cover and while there I'd do a new timing chain and new water pump as pump would be off anyway. It's easy to get fooled by leaks. Pressure test it and watch with dental mirrors or whatever it takes and watch it leak, T

Thanks for the reply.Had mechanic look at leak he says timing cover gasket.Water pump not leaking. He mentioned replace chain and gears if worn much. Also says oil pan will have to be removed so we are talking around $500.Did not discuss water pump replacement.Have no idea what total would be then.As of now using stop leak appears to have stopped leak for now.again thanks for reply. It might be a good time to change the pump even if it's not leaking. At this point they should be able to do it along with the timing cover for no additional labor, just the part. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Totally agree. Just the time to clean up old gasket off of old water pump can be a pill. Get the system flushed out as sealer even though it can work can be a problem so you don't want that in there forever unless you are about to give up on a vehicle. Yes I will use it for certain slight gasket seeping. ONE OUNCE not the 12 oz bottle. If that doesn't do it - repair it. Everything costs something to fix a vehicle and short cuts can be the costliest, T

Excellent! I totally forgot that if the timing cover is off the chain takes no time at all and isn't costly for most. Replacement chain and gear are frequently better than OE especially if a nylon toothed cam gear is used. Tech will be looking right at it and if not absolutely perfect toss it then. Always best to do chain and both gears at once if at all. Good call, T
