Lowering lift on van Sign In

Hey guys. I bought a lifted 98 GMC safari van 4wd a while back not realizing I mighty have trouble with inspection in Massachusetts. I might need to lower it and am trying to find out what will be involved and if the cost will be practical. The van uses a couple blocks in the rear which I believe will be easy to remove. The front has I believe 6" welded pipe that will need to be cut out. Will it be difficult to remove this pipe and is there anything else it will require besides this? Once the pipe is out does the body just get welded back to the frame at the same spot the pipe came out? How much should I expect to pay to have this done?
The van is clean and runs great. I'm hoping to keep it but it also needs a new leaf spring and tie rod put in which I have both of already. I don't wanna go ahead and have those installed just to find out I need to get it lowered and the cost to be impractical. In this case it might make more sense to cut my losses now and try to sell it to someone out of state where it can pass inspection.

I have no idea what pipe you are talking about. You're going to have to supply some pictures.

You will need new "U" bolts for the back and the driveshaft may have been modified.

From MA myself as we know this stuff is an impossible hassle, live recording of inspections being done! The lift would take it off the road for use in this state!

You can drive thru just not stay here with it - registered here.

Ask an auto body place that might even do this just what is alterered to lift body off frame and what now needs totally undoing could be extensive?

Think: Brake and fuel lines, linkage to trans, 4X4 however that's done on vans, THE DRIVESHAFT as Hammer mentioned I guess a maybe for a used one?

Were all rubber body to frame bushings changed out? Arggh - what a mess to undo all that now.

Ask the inspection place what EXACTLY they want to comply with MA.

Now that this lockdown, mask up stuff is mostly over you can trust MA wants bucks from inspections they were delaying or off line let some go thru.

Good luck but seriously 90% of MA folks are within an hour of NH or RI two that might let this go thru if you could register it in one of those two?? IDK on CT, Upstate NY or VT as well,

T
