Serpentine belt on a 2001 mustang v-6, 3.8

i have just replaced the serpentine belt on my 2001 ford mustang v-6. 3.8 engine, the belt is already coming apart two days later after i have replaced it, can anyone please help with this issue?

Has any work been done recently on any belt driven components like the power steering or A/C?

Also if the belt is coming apart on one of the edges, take a look at the belt tensioner to make sure it isn't cocked pushing the belt more to one side..................

so just make sure is alligned? how do i check the pulleys to make sure they work properly? could one of the pulleys be frozen or locked?

Certainly, that is possible but it would be very noisy and would break almost right away. If nothing has been changed, then you likely don't have an alignment problem so you going to have to look for a pulley that has some play in it and leans under pressure. That will cause the belt to follow the lean and migrate off the sides of the pulleys.

Sorry about that, first time using this forum, thank you for the advice, as far as the engine running very rough, could this problem be related to the belt?

Not unless it ripped some wires or damaged a sensor. You would likely have a check engine light if that were the case.

at first it was running fine then all of the sudden i stopped at the gas station, filled up then i started the car back up and it began to run really rough and the check engine light came on, the old belt was pretty worn out so i installed a new one and like i had mentioned is coming apart now. it was very weird i will take the belt of again and check the pulleys, once the belt is off the pulleys should have much play right? what do you think about all this.

Go get the codes read before playing the guessing game.

To add:
Fraud (Ford) made six or seven groove pulleys. Any replacement parts must match - wrong if that mean a 2 mile belt - got the "T" shirt!
