>>with the crank shaft hitting the cam seals<< Really? That would be interesting, if it were possible. Think you must've misunderstood the diagnosis. Oil leaks are messy, but as long as the oil level is kept up, no damage to internals. Loren SW Washington

Maybe I am kinda late here. I have a 2005 PT Cruiser non-turbo. It came up with a check engine light and would not go over 2500 RPM. Over that, it would jerk like hell. Autozone lets you borrow the OBD2 reader for free. It read code P0339: Crankshaft Position Sensor A CKP Intermittent. I bought a new sensor p/n: 05269873AB at the dealer and replaced it. Problem solved. BTW, on my engine this sensor is in the front of the engine, unlike what my 2003 Haynes book tells me.

I also have a 2006 pt cruiser and for the last year it shakes when idling only with the AC running. Towards the end of the summer it would also start to overheat when it was idling with the AC on due to the extreme heat (I live in Texas:-) Once I turn the AC off the shaking stops and the temperature starts to drop back down. The fan seems to be working when the AC is on however I had it checked and they said the fan assembly needed to be replaced...they wanted $595! Needless to say I am getting a second opinion but see someone below had the same problem without the overheating and replacing the fan assbly worked. Anyone else experience the same thing! I too would be happier without a chrysler!
