I have a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo with 4cyl engine. Last June low side was in negative, so I replaced expansion valve. worked fine until recently. Now compressor cycles on and off and draws down power in car as it does so. Fan shuts off and battery light goes on and off as it does this. When it is running low side is around 80 and high side 125 with temp outside being 76. It did run for a few minutes today and air was ice cold. I watched a video that suggested valve stuck open but it didn't mention if it should be cycling on and off and using all power in vehicle as it does. Would appreciate any help Thanks

With those pressure readings, your compressor is junk. You may also have some more electrical issues with the otrher stuff you are describing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Elecrical shop says belt may be slipping for just a second while demand is on alternator. I have had issues with this so it makes sense. Alternator is brand new and I had to have belt tightened twice to get it to not slip. It now does fine until I turn on a/c. It the expansion valve was stuck open like in the video I watched, would it cycle on and off ? The pressures he showed were exactly like mine with that being the problem bu he didn't say if it would just stay engaged or cut off.

I just went out and checked it. When the compressor kicks on everything stops briefly including the main pully. Is the compressor seizing?
