Hi, i have a 1998 mercury tracer automatic. Has 177k mls. It was running fine until the day i drained the fluid and new filter.as soon as i refilled it with fluid and started the car .it just revs a lot and it moves forward and reverse just a few feet .its almost like its in neutral.the fluid is on the right level.breaks not sticking. I reseated the filter which didnt help.if its shifthing fine will you rule out a bad computer relay or a bad shift solenoid or tcu.(not sure if mine has a tcu. I only was able to drain about 4 quarts.

Very bad decision to replace the fluid with mileage that high. It's common to fail right there and then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
