I had to replace rear brake line on 1999 jimmy with abs.The master cylinder was empty when I put new line on tried to bleed would not.I looked up in book and said I have to take in to bleed .Said need scan tool to bleed.Is this only the only way or is there another,because I have no brakes except emergency brake.Thanks for your help

It's nearly impossible to bleed without the scan tool. I've seen people flush gallons of brake fluid through some mid 90's trucks and still not have a pedal but the scan too does it in 5 minutes. The scan tool opens the necessary flow to get the air pockets out. Hammertime So I should be able to bleed brakes like any other car and dont need scanner

Not necessarily.
