Hello, I recently purchased a 2009 Jeep Patriot 2.0L Sport FWD 4D. It is pearl black (Color Code: PXR). There is a small chip in the paint above the rear passenger side wheel well that is showing rust. I bought the appropriate color paint from Mopar, but I'm not really sure how to proceed. I am concerned that simply painting over it will not resolve the issue entirely. Do I need to "sand" away the rust or something? If I don't, will the finish be bumpy there? With winter fast approaching, I'd like to get this taken care of soon to prevent any issues. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -------------------------------- 2009 Jeep Patriot Sport 2.0L Automatic CVT Front Wheel Drive 4-Door Black (PXR) Approximately 50,000 miles

There is really nothing you can do yourself that won't look terrible. You will destroy the paint job. Take it to a professional and let him touch it up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
