Popping noise R/F speaker S-15 1991

Hi, I have a 1991 GMC Sonoma (S-15) and it has a popping crackling noise from the right front speaker. I know it's the radio itself, I have replaced it once. That one was OK for a couple of years, now it's doing the same thing. Does anyone know what the problem is with the radio? This seems to have been a problem with these radios. I have it apart and did find one corroded connection at one of the capacitors but I'm not convinced it's the problem. The rest of the capacitors looks OK. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The OE radios seem pretty dependable or have been for me. In that dash speaker - dirt may have found it's way in or my bet is the speaker. Swap it with other side and see where the problem goes or stays, T

Your car is a 1991 vehicle. If you have not changed out the speakers, then your speakers are most likely the culprit, being 19 year old speakers. Speakers that old tend to break down, especially on the outer ring of the speaker where the soft foam is, usually that breaks away with age. I recommend changing your speakers if you have not already done so.
