Radio working...Sometimes

So I have a 1999 Chevy Astro Van (stylish, I know), and radio rarely works at all. No clock on the radio, won't turn on. Nothing. Every now and then (and this is super rare) the radio will turn on, but there is so much static that you can't really hear anything. The antenna is fine and I believe the battery is as well. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how I can fix it? Thanks in advanced. Kris Kris Lynn

is the radio a cd player or a tape deck? some delco radios had a problem with the on/off switch. personally, think you would probably be better off replacing the radio with an after market deck.

It's just the stock radio with am/fm and cassette. I am for sure going to eventually get a new radio, but I was trying to find an easier, cheaper quick fix. Kris Lynn

there is also a good possibility there may be bad solder connections inside of the radio. delco radios of that time period were notorious for having bad solder connections. the on/off switch can be bypassed by someone knowledgeable enough to do it, but you will still have to deal with the bad solder connections.
