i cant seem to figure out why my radio doesnt work at all...all static . my cds work fine . someone non proffesional wired the radio for my gfriend . all of the fuses are fine . the antenna does not extend, but its fuse is good!!! its a 1999 mazda 626 lx . i need help . thanks guys

i'm assuming you have a power antenna. it sounds likethe power antenna remote wire didn't get connected.

i looked in the back of the radio and the antenna wire was plugged in... thinking maybe i should get it totally rewired .

i wasn't really referring to the antenna plug, but rather the antenna turn on wire that would be coming from the wire harness. this is a wire that sends a voltage to the power antenna to make it go up and down.

If it is an aftermarket stereo, there should be a blue wire on the wire harness of the stereo, that is your power antenna signal wire. Most stereos have a blue wire and a blue/white wire. The blue wire is the power antenna signal, and the blue/white wire is the remote power for an amplifier if you have one installed. If your installer used a wire harness to connect the stereo to the factory plug, then just connect the two blue wires together and you should be good to go. If he cut the factory wire plug, then look for the red/green wire, that is the power antenna trigger wire and connect it to the blue wire on your stereo plug.
